A great base to explore near and far

Picture
Boscastle is famous for its beautiful harbour setting, picturesque cottages and quaintness of a Cornish fishing village.
It is both a friendly locals' village and a lovely place to stay with plenty of shops, restaurants, garage and excellent pubs that have a great reputation. It is very dog friendly.

The National Trust owns large areas around the village with free access for walks around the coastal headlands and inland up the beautiful Valency Valley. Four ancient churches (including Thomas Hardy's St Juliots) are well worth a visit. Further afield, the Camel Trail (cycle track on an old railway) is a great bike ride alongside the estuary to Padstow.
There is so much more to explore with Bude, the Gardens of Heligan & Eden Project and many castles, museums and historic houses within easy striking distance. Boscastle has an excellent range of shops. The Information centre right on the harbour attached to the National Trust shop as well as a Spar, bakery, green grocer, hairdresser and clothing stores. A village shop is two minutes' walk from the holiday cottage and a farm shop with restaurant and amazing sea views is just on the edge of the village.
